Best Ways to Use Matcha Salt

Matcha Salt: A Simple, Yet Refined Homemade Seasoning

Making your own matcha salt is super easy: just mix good quality fine salt with pure matcha powder. In general, there are 4 doses of salt for 1 dose of matcha, but you can adapt this to suit your tastes. The result is a unique seasoning with a soft green color and a subtle umami, vegetal and slightly bitter flavor. It's a perfect marriage between the purity of salt and the richness of Japanese tea.

How do you use it?

The great thing about matcha salt is that it goes with almost everything! Here are a few simple but effective ideas:

- With tempura or gyoza:

Instead of sauce, gently dip each bite in a little matcha salt. It's lighter and just as tasty.

- Mochi Ice Cream

Vanilla iced mochi is a soft little ball with a soft rice dough around it. When you bite into it, the light, creamy vanilla ice cream melts gently in your mouth.
And on top, we put a little of our matcha salt. It adds a little bitter and salty touch that blends really well with the sweetness of the vanilla.
It's fresh, sweet, and at the same time a little surprising, but not too much. Just right for being neither too sweet nor too bland. A simple but delightful little dessert.

- On chips or crisps:

Lower in calories than mayonnaise and ketchup, but just as tasty! It removes the fat from the chips without breaking the crunchy texture of the crisps or the softness of the chips.

- With salmon or tuna sashimi:

Our favorite, raw salmon or tuna is fresh and melt-in-the-mouth, with a soft texture that almost melts in your mouth. When you dip it in matcha salt, the slight bitterness and herbaceous flavor of the green tea mingle with the salty touch, subtly enhancing the natural flavor of the fish.
The result is a delicate balance between the marine freshness of the fish and the deep, slightly bitter, salty taste of the matcha salt. It's simple yet refined, adding character to every bite without masking the sweetness of the salmon or tuna.

An Aesthetic and Original Touch

As well as tasting good, matcha salt is also visually stunning. Sprinkled on a plate, it adds a touch of soft, natural color reminiscent of Japanese landscapes. It's perfect for making an impression at the table, without making life too complicated.

We also love the fact that we can make it ourselves. You choose your matcha, your salt, you taste, you adjust... It's a little ritual, a little Zen, very satisfying. What's more, it's a seasoning you can keep for a long time in an airtight jar, always ready to sublimate a dish in two seconds.

But what about you? What are you going to season with your matcha salt?
