3. Who we share your personal information with

We share personal information only as needed for the purposes above:

  • Shopify: our e-commerce platform, which hosts the Site, runs checkout and stores order and customer data. See the Shopify Privacy Policy.
  • Payment providers: Shopify's payment services (including Shop Pay) and PayPal, to process payments and prevent fraud.

  • Analytics: Google Analytics, provided by Google, to understand how visitors use the Site. See the Google Privacy Policy.
  • Advertising partners: Meta (Facebook and Instagram), Google (including Google Ads and YouTube) and TikTok. With your consent where the law requires it, their pixels and tags on the Site collect information about your visit, such as the pages you view, items added to your cart and your purchases, together with device and browser information. For purchases, we may also share hashed (encoded) contact details so that they can match a purchase to an ad. They use this information to show our ads to you and to people with similar interests, and to measure how our ads perform. They may also use it for their own purposes under their own privacy policies: Meta, Google and TikTok.
  • Advisers and authorities: our accountants and lawyers, and courts, regulators or law enforcement when the law requires it or to protect our rights.
  • Business transfers: a buyer or successor if we merge, are acquired, or sell all or part of our business.

We do not sell your personal information for money. However, under some US state laws, sharing information with advertising partners for targeted advertising may count as a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. See Section 7 for how to opt out.

4. International transfers

We are based in Japan. Our service providers process personal information in Japan, the United States and other countries, which may have different data protection laws from yours.

Under Japan's Act on the Protection of Personal Information (APPI), when we provide personal information to a service provider outside Japan, we confirm that the provider has systems in place that meet the standards set by the APPI. We also take the necessary steps to make sure those systems stay in place. If you ask, we will tell you about these steps.

When we transfer personal information from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we rely on lawful transfer mechanisms. These include adequacy decisions and the Standard Contractual Clauses built into our service providers' terms.

5. How long we keep your information

  • Order and transaction records: for as long as Japanese tax and accounting laws require, generally seven years.
  • Account information: until you delete your account or ask us to delete it.
  • Newsletter information: until you unsubscribe.
  • Loyalty program information: until you leave the program or ask us to delete it.
  • Inquiries: for as long as we need to respond and handle any follow-up.

When we no longer need personal information, we delete it or make it anonymous.

6. Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies for the following purposes:

  • Strictly necessary: to run the Site, keep your cart and complete checkout. These are set by Shopify.
  • Analytics: to measure how the Site is used (Google Analytics and Shopify analytics).
  • Marketing and advertising: to show you our ads on other websites and apps and measure how they perform (Meta, Google and TikTok), and to understand how our emails perform.

Where the law requires it, for example in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, we ask for your consent through a cookie banner before we use analytics, marketing or advertising cookies. You can change your choices at any time in your cookie settings. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but some parts of the Site may not work without them. To opt out of Google Analytics, use Google's browser add-on.

There is no common industry standard for "Do Not Track" browser signals, so the Site does not currently respond to them.

7. Your rights and choices

You can ask us at any time to see, correct or delete your personal information, or to stop sending you marketing emails. Depending on where you live, you may also have the following rights.

  • Japan: Under the APPI, you may ask us to disclose the personal information we hold about you or the records of our provision of it to third parties. You may also ask us to correct, add to or delete it, to stop using or erase it, or to stop providing it to third parties.
  • European Economic Area, United Kingdom and Switzerland: You may have the right to access, correct or erase your personal information, to restrict or object to how we use it (including for direct marketing), to receive it in a portable format, and to withdraw your consent at any time. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
  • United States: Depending on your state, you may have the right to know, access, correct and delete your personal information, and to opt out of targeted advertising or the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information as defined by state law. We will not discriminate against you for using these rights. You may use an authorized agent to make a request for you. To opt out of targeted advertising and the "sale" or "sharing" of your personal information, use the data sharing opt-out page on the Site, where available in your state, or email us. Where state law requires it, we also treat a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal from your browser as an opt-out request.

To make a request, email info@yedoensis.com. We may need to confirm your identity before we act. We will respond within the time the applicable law requires.

8. How we protect your information

We take the following measures to protect personal information:

  • Organization: We have appointed a person responsible for handling personal information, and we have set internal rules on how it is collected, used, stored, provided to others and deleted.
  • Staff: We make sure that everyone who handles personal information knows their obligations.
  • Physical security: We prevent unauthorized access to devices and documents that contain personal information.
  • Technical security: Only authorized personnel can access personal information, our systems use access controls, and the Site encrypts data in transit with HTTPS/TLS.
  • Service providers: We choose service providers with appropriate security measures and supervise how they handle personal information on our behalf.
  • Data stored abroad: We check the personal data protection laws of the countries where our service providers store personal information, and we take security measures that account for them.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Children

The Site is not intended for children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

10. Links to other websites

The Site may link to other websites, such as our store on Amazon. This Privacy Policy does not cover those websites. Please read their own privacy policies.

11. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and change the "Last updated" date. If we make significant changes, we will give additional notice where the law requires it.
